In service to the people of Fiji and to Sathya Sai Baba, the 7th Annual Sai Medical Camp took place with more volunteers and patients attending than ever before. Dr Gunu Naker (Project Manager) compiled a selection of feedback received from Volunteers and Participants in the 2013 Sai Medical Camp. This feedback is given below:
Dear Dr Gunu
Loving SairamI have received a “Thank you card” from an ex-War veteran who would I have met in the gym. This gentleman would always enquire about the well being of my family and I. He is someone who would share his stories with me about his experience during the war. I have never provided any service for this gentleman.
Swami has his own ways of doing things and this has been a total surprise. Kevin is his name. He was interested to know what was the experience of providing service in a medical camp like and I tried my best to explain in a simple way few weeks back.
It was today that I was given this card in the gym with so much love and gratitude from this gentleman and the fact that he thought of doing it from his heart did show me that Swami’s hands, eyes and love is everywhere.
I never expected anything at all and I feel it is just right to share the contents with all the team since this is for all from Swami.
I shall try to send the photocopied contents via mail. I have got permission from Kevin to share with all.

This is the first time in my life I thought when you do service it is not done for others, instead it is done for your own spiritual progress. I am sure the leaders are not looking for any praises or gratitude from me. But I was on cloud 9 all those 7 days. The good vibrations lasted many days after the camp. The best part is morning and afternoon Bhajans in between meeting the Swami in his many physical forms made it as well as a spiritual camp. Thanks for asking me to come for the second time while we met in the conference in Jan in Canberra. I have gained all the while. I am sorry, I have not helped you in any way organising the camp. But I will try next time to be a bit more pro active. Long live Brother Gunu and his team!

It was another beautiful med camp to be with you all. You all have inspired me to follow Swami’s values. I observed all of you in amazement in the way you were showing Swami’s love to one and all. It was more of a spiritual camp rather than a med camp. I now understand why swami says “Service is for your own spiritual growth, not for others”. Thanks to every one of you made my stay very memorable and lovely.

Both of you are one great people. You know how to inspire one and all and of course motivate them to work hard. I am slowly coming down to the earth. I have experienced the ultimate spiritual bliss while in the camp. This may be probably what every spiritual aspirant speak of bliss/liberation/realisation. Thanks for the great experience of one week. One day rest, second day conference, 5 days of delightful work. You wanted a feed back, I may have to do this in 2 parts as have I lost what I wrote half way yesterday.
Everything was wonderful. Only one thing I may have loved to have a better understanding of the local skin diseases and the available treatment locally. Ideally we needed more ointments in case of scabies to treat one family. So may be next time we should probably work closely with Pharmacy and to live not very far from the Pharmacy. I would probably like to contribute to buying the necessary ointments if it can be done directly or through the common pathway which you have sent before. I’ll look into that soon and send my contributions. (I am bit lazy/slow, remember. Anyway, looking at you both makes laziness fly out of the window!)
Tomorrow Dr.Raj, Sathya (Dentist) and Harry are presenting In Nunawading Sai Centre about the Spiritual side of the camp. A quarter of our members come from Fiji and I’ve met their relatives whilst I was in the camp when they came for check-ups. Surely all will enjoy it and will be inspired.

Some people had travelled to the camp, leaving their home at 4am and reaching Ellington Primary School at 10am. Being curious, I asked the group why did they travel so far, when they could have gone to the general hospital. Response “You are God’s chosen people and we feel blessed to be served by your love and generosity.”Ba (20/08/2013)
About midday one iTaukei lady came to me directly and gave me a big hug, a kiss on the hands and “May God bless you all for such a loving service.”

An extremely busy day at the gate. I was given an opportunity to do some translation for an Indo-Fijian lady. A feeling of immense love and understanding towards the very poor and neglected people. Before she left the camp, she came to me and gave her blessings to “All who have come so far to help us – may God bless you and your children.”Loma – Sigatoka (22/08/2013) (Home Town)

Another extremely busy day. Smiles all around and people willing to wait for their turns. No complaints.This was my second year with the Sai Medical Team. I feel very blessed to be a member of the Sai Family that has so much love, passion, fortitude and dedication in every thing they do. The smiles, the “Vinaka Vaka Levu”, the bear hugs say it all. Thank you all, in Fiji and in Australia, for making this a very special service opportunity for me.
